I absolutely think a lot (most? nearly all?) trans people are trans because of default brain wiring or something, but I wonder what percentage are MtF cause they felt like they could never be a successful man, and because there's a clear community/path to acceptance for trans ppl

also this post from the same thread, which cites two reasons relevant here - being trans gave "automatic community", and their sexuality was demonized: https://www.reddit.com/r/detrans/comments/e9x83u/was_there_any_signs_before_transitioning_that/fanjr10/ … Again: This is definitely not all trans people! But obvs some experience this.

Hard to dispute those self-reports, yeah. Agree that it's partially the framing. If you ask "what percent of detransitioners initially transitioned due to this?", the story given detrans feels much more plausible than "what percentage of trans people transitioned due to this?"

This person detransitioned. I really doubt that someone can be strong enough to overcome the obstacles they face when transitioning without actually being trans. Detransitioning people are a good example. Some of them are even trans.

There are lots of reasons someone would say such a thing. Maybe they are non-binary and tried a binary transition. Maybe intersex, and feel their body is meant to be a different gender. Maybe they were simply exploring. Most people detransition because of social pressure.

This person seems to be trans masculine. You asked about trans feminine ppl. As as trans woman I can tell you I neither expected nor got widespread acceptance from some mythical trans community. Because like the “trans lobby” such a thing doesn’t exist.
