I absolutely think a lot (most? nearly all?) trans people are trans because of default brain wiring or something, but I wonder what percentage are MtF cause they felt like they could never be a successful man, and because there's a clear community/path to acceptance for trans ppl

"Clear community/path to acceptance for trans people" seems like a phenomenon that is, at most, limited to a few small communities at an extreme end of the political spectrum. Certainly not true for the median American.

I'm down to accept that, but I suspect in at least some cases, someone might feel that being trans will get 'trans pride' on their side, whereas they have no hope of getting any approval in that way by being male, particularly if they're "bad" at being traditionally male.

This doesn't happen. I have known a lot of trans people over the years, and not one trans woman has ever said anywhere I could hear or read it that they transitioned because they were bad at being ~traditionally male. A lot of trans women pre-transition were bad at that, but
