Generally, I don't resonate with identity in media - race/sex doesn't matter as long as it's a good story.
But I did feel this for the first time watching Wonder Woman. The movie wasn't even all that great but I felt weird secondhand pride cause the protagonist was female.

I completely did not expect that the movie would make me feel the part of my character that's 'woman' shaped so strongly, and also made me feel for the first time the lack of that shape in that particular main role in other scifi/fantasy media.
