I completely did not expect that the movie would make me feel the part of my character that's 'woman' shaped so strongly, and also made me feel for the first time the lack of that shape in that particular main role in other scifi/fantasy media.

That movie made me cry happy tears. Watching her makes me wonder what naivety we could be allowed if society were similar to what she grew up with. She's strong and believes in good, fights evil and doesn't let the misogynists wear her down. Makes you want to claim kinship.

I actually experienced a similar sentiment with Obama. Almost precisely. Disassociated from his job title, and even what he meant to others, but in a thin sliver some native association, a dash of pride even, given the men with whom I grew up and initially admired.
