The argument that feminism *is* also men's rights, really bothers me. All feminists are against female genital mutilation, but you can find a lot of them who've genitally mutilated their own sons.

As far as I know, FGM is designed to reduce/eliminate pleasure for the female. Circumcision doesn't do that. Granted, I don't see much benefit from circumcision, but i don't think it is punitive, rather archaic

Circumcision was popularized as an antimasturbatory thing, and it does actually make it harder to masturbate - as I can attest, having given handjobs to a good sample size from each category.

That’s a weird niche example which sidesteps the point which is, afaik, that sexism harms everyone, men included and as feminism is the movement against sexism it’s also pro men’s rights

3,000 boys are mutilated every single day in America. You can try calculating how many of those are born to feminists, but the point is it isn't "a weird niche example".
Feminists on the West Coast oppose circumcision. Those in the Midwest and East Coast strongly support it.

I had to special button just to see this tweet. Why is Twitter requiring this? Formalized shadow banning.

Comparing FGM with circumcision feels ridiculous to me. The effects are vastly different, as are the reasons and the level of change.

1) people are imperfect - doesn't change what the actual idealogy is.
2) fgm and circumcision are probably significantly different
3) I'd wager the average self-described feminist would be more receptive / less likely to circumcise their kid than those who don't self-described.

I've been saying this exact thing for years now. They say they are also for mens equality but you mention male genital mutilation and get tumbleweeds.
