This presumes that candidates are actually interested in fixing the wealth gap and not just pandering for votes.

Neither as I don't know what their policy stances are.

Unless either candidate is going to drastically shrink government, then neither will shrink the gap.

Generalizing: Success in formal ed depends more on presentation & respect for authority than actual ability, & may denote "need to prove I'm smart" Rural & blue collar usually have a greater desire for independence & respect for the competent & genuine over presentation
-
So as counterintuitive as it may seem to the well educated, grounded & practical people with less education often pick candidates that serve the ave person better than those that so desperately claim to want to help with all their top down plans

If the candidates aren't platforming on wealth gap reduction, I'd say these are uncorrelated. I think this is better asked in reverse: "A candidate's platform is reducing the wealth gap. Are they more supported by people with A) High formal education, or B) Low formal education"

Are we supposed to guess what kind of policy a certain social stratum tends to support or are we supposed to express our opinion on which stratum is most likely to vote for the most eligible candidate?

Neither. Elected officials don’t have that power.
