I'd miss Tchaichovski, , and .
But no more Letters to friends? No more Dresden Files? No more classic literature and scripture? Couldn't do it.

Unable to read provided it doesn't include unable to see in general and I have a system which narrates what is written.

I'm halfway to being deaf and somehow hear better than most people I encounter. I feel that I could find joy in music even if I couldn't hear it. If I couldn't read I wouldn't have reason to go on.

If I become deaf, after a while, I can't speak properly. Uhm no thanks

I already have a hearing loss and I’ll still go with unable to hear haha
Rates of depression, suicidal thinking, etc are much more common among deaf than among the blind.
Inability to hear can be extremely isolating.
Reading is a modern invention. The need for conversation, to hear laughter and emotion, is hard-wired into us.
