Actually this is strongly conditional on other similar services. If they ban all ride-sharing, the city government sucks. If they ban Uber but not for example Lyft, it's probably just that Uber did a bunch of illegal shit like they like to do

Uber is an evil company and any city that feels they don;t serve the public well is OK by me. I have some experience with some early Uber people and none of the bad stories about Uber surprise me at the least. They are taxi company with an app and should be regulated as such

Aside from the direct effects, a city that banned Uber is more likely to be a decaying nimbyist mess like SF. Banning Uber probably correlates with banning things like scooters, housing, Airbnb, and trying to enforce a decaying 1970s stasis.

Given the results of this poll and my distaste for visiting cities with a high number of tourists, I'd say its a favorable sign. Marginally cheaper cab fares at the expense of isonomia doesn't come into it. Most good cities have good public transport anyway.
