My government is slow and inefficient by design, so that the worst can be prevented simply because large chances to important concepts cannot be done over night and we have time to fight back. So while I trust neither, the government is easier to watch.

Also if you're more afraid of the government, it's probably because you know more about their mistakes. Corporations are a lot better at keeping those silent.

I'm more afraid of the government because they can lock me up in a box for the rest of my life if they wanted. While both cause issues on a lot of levels, only government can actually strip me of my basic freedoms to that intense of a level.

Corporations can't do that because you have a government, not because they wouldn't like to.

Imagine you have a strict parent with rules you and your sibling must obey. Your sibling is a dick who would institute strict rules if he could, but he's a kid.
It doesn't change the fact that one of those can ground you and the other can't.
