Both parents could and did drive, dad got home later (overtime) so rarely ate with us and TV remote controls weren't a thing.

My dad is typically the driver, but he likes driving best & has the most experience. It always seemed like a skill/enjoyment match more than a "I'm the man and must be the one driving," thing, if that makes sense.

Not even a little. He saw my mom as a partner. He did just as much cooking and housework. They both made the same amount of money. He grew up in a house where his stepdad was abusive and held everyone under his boot. I don't think he ever wanted to live in that kind of home again
