I've recently been exploring therapy for my productivity issues - three sessions with two different therapists, and have been disappointed and surprised to find that the sessions are significantly less effective than basic techniques many of my friends use to help each other.

The issues with the therapists (that aren't issues in my community): 1. not generative enough - they aren't asking questions that i haven't already asked myself 2. stuck in old paradigms/inflexible, unable to see and adjust to what I need

A lot of this stuff is 'in the water' - my community has sort of a generalized intuitive grasp about how to debug stuff. Some are doing effective self-training; did a 40 min session with me and it was more useful than my 3 hours of therapy combined

But the first 40 minutes was effective with another person who wasn't a therapist. One actual therapist proposed a theory for my behavior and I was like no, that's definitely not true, that doesn't match up with xyz, and they refused to update.
