You know how sometimes you agree with something, but over time you really start to get gutpunched by how true it is in a way you couldn't deeply feel before? This is happening for me lately but with 'how much society is lying to itself about almost everything'

Most people are emotionally weak. It’s pathetic and sad. If people were more honest with themselves and each other, the world would look entirely different. But nah. Insecurities are the most coddled things we nurture as a species....

Particularly occurs to me concerning liberalism (the philosophy, not the ideology) itself. The West is a liberal society, yet we haven't reconciled individualism w/ the good of the collective, which is what liberalism's supposed to be. Certainly like to pretend we have, though.

We get programmed with society's nonsense constructs as kids, and it takes a lot to deprogram stuff that gets put in at that deep/early of a level. It's so frustrating how poorly things work, and that people just accept (or even fight for) them working that way.
