See, one of the pros/cons (both at the same time) of being on the autism spectrum is that I realized this by about 6 years old. People on the spectrum don’t tend to handle these sorts of lies well, and it’s a large factor as to why they have difficulty interacting with society.

Douglas Murray just wrote a fantastic book in which he explores this exact topic. That being said, it's an odd feeling. That has happened to me where i see unintended incentive structures in pretty much all things.
