Lots of cultural norms have changed over history (divorce, gay people, hygiene) after being hotly contested.
What are some norms that have remained surprisingly stable over history despite being hotly contested?
Didn't women go from basically no reproductive rights anywhere in the world to complete control if if they reproduce or not in much of it within like 50 years?
i also viewed women's reproductive rights as advancing extraordinarily fast both in law and in social attitude. Women have incredibly much more sexual freedom than they did in the past (thank you birth control); it's possible we've forgotten how bad it used to be.
Attitudes towards women’s reproductive rights have fluctuated slightly but remained fairly consistent over the past quarter century. Now compare that to support for LGBTQ+ civil rights, marijuana legalization, women in the military, etc.
