Why does the male gender role have generally less flexibility? Feminine men seem more mocked than masculine women, you can name a baby girl 'Max' but it's weird for a baby boy to be "Sarah", women being bi is basically a fun norm while 'bi guys' are stereotyped as gay. Why?

Your hesitation may be related to the fact that in addition to the "crude patriarchy" model of gender roles I described, there's also complementarianism (in which gender roles are separate but equal). From a complementarian point of view the asymmetry you describe is indeed odd

I just think the crude patriarchy model is older and more deeply rooted in our culture, and was never really fully replaced by complementarianism before we started to move to egalitarianism
