On a spectrum from "buck-it-up/use your agency/stop being weak" to "not-your-fault/change society's norms/your feelings are valid", what's your most extreme viewpoint on each end of the spectrum?

Almost everything <------> things that are caused by genetics. Physical disabilities / mental illness. (Unless you just ignore said things and don't seek help).

I hate to dodge the question but I hold all of those extremes. At final reckoning no one will change without internal effort, but that doesn't mean anything is "your fault". It's probably not your fault a car hit you, but you're the one who has to go to physio to walk again.

Definitely closer to the “your feelings are valid” line. I have never been one to degrade someone for things that happen to them. But I also cannot agree with attempting to change societal norms to prevent minor grievances either.

With regard to agency, we have no true control over our ourselves. Genetics and environmental stimuli input the variables. Our bodies output thoughts and behaviors.
