My general social theory priors: 1. Compassion for all; from the inside, everything is reasonable 2. Narratives heavily shape our social reality and are hard to detect 3. What induces suffering is arbitrary and influenced by incentives 4. Can also have compassion for incentives

Narratives are easier to detect when you assume that everything is narrative. “Narratives heavily shape our social reality” is a narrative. This tweet is itself a bunch of narratives. Everything beyond the immediate contents of conscious experience is a story we tell ourselves.

That makes sense, though to be honest I’m not sure if denying truth is much better than claiming truth. If I had to come up with a disclaimer, it might be something like “Every assertion I make is merely a belief, not a fact.” But to each their own!
