Idk, don't things become slurs when they're used as insults? Doesn't all it take for something to become a slur is for it to develop a connotation of disgust or hatred or something?

It's only used as an insult because the people it's describing are, well... terrible people. It's a perfectly descriptive acronym that doesn't inherently have any negative meaning, it's just...negative because they're shitty people, lol.

Ok, fair? Maybe I'm not viewing this as the point. If I'm trying to understand someone and change someone's mind, then insulting them is going to actively hurt. I value using as neutral terms as possible with anyone whose mind I might wanna change, no matter how shitty they are.

Speaking to them the way they'd prefer to spoken to is the best way to foster a good discussion - no disagreement there. I'm just uneasy about a possible future where using this "slur" gets you cancelled, fired from your job, etc. like all the other slurs.
