Are you (or would people describe you as) a TERF (trans exclusionary radical feminist) or SWERF (sex worker exclusionary radical feminist)? (I know some TERFs and SWERFs consider the terms derogatory. If there's a more neutral term to use pls lemme know)

tho the thought of SWERFs picking a more neutral term makes me go 'ahhh' because SWERFs trigger me a lot, but I still consciously advocate that they have the right to do that and I'll try to use neutral terms because that would help discussion

It's only used as an insult because the people it's describing are, well... terrible people. It's a perfectly descriptive acronym that doesn't inherently have any negative meaning, it's just...negative because they're shitty people, lol.

Ok, fair? Maybe I'm not viewing this as the point. If I'm trying to understand someone and change someone's mind, then insulting them is going to actively hurt. I value using as neutral terms as possible with anyone whose mind I might wanna change, no matter how shitty they are.

It's definitely been overused as an insult to the point of uselessness, but it started out as a neutral (and necessary) distinction between two types of feminists. They can call it a slur, but it's a *literally true* description of their beliefs.
I dunno. Maybe in most cases, but in this particular situation, TERF is really just so... Accurately descriptive. It would actually make more sense to take offence at the "radical" part than the "trans exclusionary" one.
Super non PC example, but, you know how "retarded" became offensive, and every word we came up to replace it eventually became offensive too? Maybe it's the same with TERFs. Whatever new name they pick, in a few years the bad PR will make they claim that name is a slur too
