I had a consultation for plastic surgery today! I think I carry a lil social shame from 'caring so much about my appearance.' I'm not sure I actually mind my appearance so much as it feels incredibly advantageous to be more attractive, particularly if I'm public-facing.

I think I'm treating this as a financial investment - I anticipate higher returns on most things if I'm up a point or two on the 'people want to look at my face' scale.

I’ve thought of the same thing. Unfortunately there is a stigma around plastic surgery and it people have a negative reaction when it’s revealed. I think they feel that they’ve been tricked or they just assume that the person is insecure (they see that as bad).

You almost have to have really good plastic surgery (can’t tell you had it done) and never tell anyone (or have photos that make it easy to compare). However, it could be that straight unapologetically owning it is a good path as well.

so far unapologetically owning things has been good for me - the most iffy thing i've unapologetically owned are my unorthodox showering habits, which I deleted a few tweets about >.>

Yeah, there’s a limit to what people accept so you have to be careful with things too much outside the norm.
