I had a consultation for plastic surgery today! I think I carry a lil social shame from 'caring so much about my appearance.' I'm not sure I actually mind my appearance so much as it feels incredibly advantageous to be more attractive, particularly if I'm public-facing.

Do you think the logic follows that “pretty face equals more book sales?”

I buy books based on premise, samples of prose, and reviews, not on the author's face. You have a naturally beautiful face; it would be a crime to damage your beauty with vascular disruption and scar tissue. Use sunscreen, don't smoke, eat healthy foods in moderation. Win.

This is probably the most shallow thing you've ever said, especially in contrast to your usual Have you ever looked at the author photo on the back of any Shel Silverstein book?

How much would you say physical attractiveness of the seller is a factor for you when deciding to buy stuff online? In person? What about physical attractiveness of the author, when deciding to buy a book?

There's this conspiracy to meme beauty into a subjective trait. It is in fact the *least* subjective part of our psyche.
