I had a consultation for plastic surgery today! I think I carry a lil social shame from 'caring so much about my appearance.'
I'm not sure I actually mind my appearance so much as it feels incredibly advantageous to be more attractive, particularly if I'm public-facing.

I think I'm treating this as a financial investment - I anticipate higher returns on most things if I'm up a point or two on the 'people want to look at my face' scale.

i love the idea of running for president but i live in a carefully crafted bubble of reasonable people and i fear if i inch just one little toe outside my bubble it will get gnawed off by people who really enjoy the experience of being angry

Sure, but I assume you want to look at some faces more than others, and if my face is one you want to look at more, then I can probably do something like sell you a book I write more easily.

You’d be surprised how quickly people (including men) avoid looking at women with facial plastic surgery.

Are you sure that's the most efficient way to do that? Have you considered oratory lessons, for example?
