It kinda seems similar to responsibility. What things are we responsible for bearing ourselves, versus what should others be responsible to deal with for us. At least, it sounds kinda like that to me. Also, to an extent, society decides what things are even seen as painful.

Like, we make things painful through social pressure, when there isn't a natural reason for them to be painful.

completely agree with this line of thought is it any wonder that one of the biggest crisis in North America is the opioid crisis? We are addicted to leading a life without pain. Trying to remove all pain from everyday life is causing much bigger issues
