Just me or is philosophy actually a complete shitshow? When I was younger I really wanted to major in philosophy because I thought it was "learning to think real good about abstract stuff", but eventually found out it was "quoting other famous people's stuff at each other"

You might be right. I don't have much familiarity with it myself, and certainly I can't think of much of note that's lately come out of the field.

But I like the idea of people treating philosophy like a board game. If something's a game, they'll focus on solving the puzzle. When something's a crusade, or a higher calling, practitioners will have their thinkers swayed by sacredness, bias, etc.
