Many of mine are of the form "I only believe this due to luck in being exposed to the right environment (I might not have derived it myself), but an alternate-me would probably come to hold the same belief if they later encountered the same arguments". E.g. effective altruism

"accidental" can mean unintentional or by chance. all beliefs are intentional, all are defined by circumstance (chance), since intentions and choices are defined by genes and environment. this framing seems to encourage a false dichotomy between choice and chance.

Almost impossible question to answer, since we have no idea what another set of life experiences would have led to. If I’d had access to all the information I’ve had in this life? I would guess 80-90% of my beliefs would be very similar.

I can’t imagine coming to the conclusion that my entire existence and all of the occurrences therein are anything but “by accident” I’m assuming the “feel like” bit of the question is the road leading so many to options A, B, and C.

I think we can’t help but build from where we find ourselves in time and culture. But cultures are shaped by deeper layers. This means that cultures can converge. It follows that the cultural layer is not necessarily the layer that is doing the majority of the shaping.
