The causal relationship could be inverse though; i.e. you're more likely to clean on days when you're in a negative mood.

Yes, I thought so too.. cleaning might be a way to overcome bad moods, to take charge, to get active with quick results. It would thus be no surprise that it coincides with bad moods, only that causality runs the other way...
