My parents always told me Santa was fake. "All the other parents lie to their kids", they said. "We'd never lie to you."
So whenever I met a kid who believed in Santa, I saw them as victims of deceptive parents, and felt grateful for my parents. Effective technique, mom and dad!

This did end up making me trust them more when they told me the earth was 6000-7000 years old

Yes I actively tried to debate one friend on the existence of Santa but then my parents told me not to tell other kids the truth

My parents never lied to me, but even worse, lied to themselves a ton

Someone at my high school got reprimanded for saying in their graduation speech that Santa wasn’t real, since there were families with young children present

The defining memory of my childhood is writing out a list for santa while surrounded by adults then posting it up the chimney with the absolute belief he'd receive and deliver my wishes. I genuinely believed that particular magic existed and we all shared its wonder. Bastards.
