How good are you at compartmentalizing - or avoiding a mental state from bleeding into another?

Kinda good. Learned this as a young music adept, and I use it nowadays to do the opposite — charge up on positives while playing, then let it flood the rest and lift me up ;p

Absolutely horrendous. Any bad stimuli that is beyond a certain level can bother me for hours. Good people around can help dissipate that feeling quickly, but I lack a proper social life due to disabilities and related issues. My state of mind is very uniform most of the time.

I'm so at ease with partitioning my thoughts and beliefs that I question how common such behavior is, but I'm also keenly aware of the contradictions or inconsistencies I might create.
