I don't mind designer stuff, some is super good, and if you've got the money, go forth and signal, my child. But LV bags seem low status to me, despite their price. Maybe I just see too many on women riding in economy on airplanes? Does anybody else have this association?

LV bags seem like heavy signalling to me - they're instantly recognizable and often are huge and have the logo plastered all over them. I assume affluent and thrifty people are subtler and not the type of people to use LV bags.

Honestly I think the logos plastered all over make them look trashy as hell. :(

I think it's a mistake to assume affluent or thrifty people are all of a single type. There are affluent people who fly coach and affluent people who buy their own planes. Lots of different situations can make you money and those situations help define the actions they take.
