My gut doesn't understand monogamy anymore. In movies, when the character sees their partner flirting with someone else, or even walking in on them cheating (minus the lying part), I'm confused why the character isn't loving and supportive. Getting mad seems so unrealistic.

My brain is like, "is this a soap opera? Why is this character suddenly acting in such an unbelievable way? Shoddy writing, really. He should obviously just date BOTH those girls, this whole "deciding between them thing" is a weak attempt at inserting drama"

Perhaps you should research the evolution of monogamy? Start with birds maybe. They are highly monogamous.

I get why you think that and I often think that myself, but you're in the vast minority. Even among people who are openly nonmonogamous, the drama inserts itself. People are stupid.

God I wish was the case in my life with two coworkers both accepting me with both of them as poly. They create a thing that I have to go one or the other. Choose a outsider, I get spited by both to have work with passive aggressive drama for months
