I'm confused about UBI, most smart people I know think it's not that feasible/helpful. I can't help but suspect people like Musk or Yang are playing some other game in promoting it.

Meme driven policy - maybe even if the plans fail on basic math, it will have been worth it to get a lot more people talking about #UBI and potentially coming up with better plans?

Maybe? I like the idea of people wanting to try something totally new and revolutionary, but I'm worried about like... everything that usually happens when people get excited about something without paying attention to the math.

I like the idea of UBI in general - or at least I want something that effectively fulfills the purpose of "basic needs are met with no effort". I am continually skeptical about how practical UBI is given the systems in place, though.
