Sometimes google fails me.
Art weirdos: I wanna make an art piece item out of probably clay? I want it to be very detailed and easily manipulable when forming, but also dry lightweight and not easily broken. Is clay the thing I want to use here? Are there other options?

Pottery-type clay is breakable when dry... would polymer clay fit your needs?

Papier-mâché can also be very lightweight for large pieces, and can be made decently sturdy with scaffolding like chicken wire, depending on what you're wanting:

I'm open to this but had the impression that doing very detailed work is hard with paper mache. I could use it as a base under polymer clay detail maybe?
