We managed to figure out violence against other humans is bad and now protest war and stuff, but I don't think we've figured out that violence of ideas is bad too, and in this war all sides happily participate in destruction.

As in, we view those who disagree as morally corrupt (and thus deserving). Our conversations are attacks, with the goal of performing aggression instead of trying to understand. We are comfortable with launching insults and gotchas, because the enemy is less than human

True, violence of ideas is like our gladiator sport but with more people happily jumping into the coliseum. If you haven’t ever changed your view in a major way, about something you had a strong belief about, it is easy to look at the other side as simply corrupt/evil.

Both sides in any war always think their side is cloaked in righteousness or there would be no war to fight .

Do you think our conclusion that "violence against other humans is bad" is grounded in solid reasoning? - big Q, but how do you think we got there?
