Yeah, the five civilized tribes of the south all kept slaves I think and mostly sided with the confederacy during the civil war.

Mayans, Incas and Aztecs had slaves way before the colonization.
It was part of their culture, I don't think they cared about the color of the slave, they just kept doing what they were used to.

Up here in Canada there were tribes whose main industry was extreme violence, kidnapping and slavery. I guess it’s different if you are enslaving members of the same haplogroup?

still has direct ramifications to this day. after emancipation, Black slaves were able to take on Cherokee citizenship, but in the past few decades, the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma started disenrolling members who were not descendants of ethnic Cherokees
