I wonder how much of our large-scale political problems are due to the lack of place for older people. For basically all of history, old people were prolly The Best, having accumulated all the knowledge you need to have in a static culture. Now times change, and they're lost.

1. Old people are perfectly suited to take care of young children. And love it. Check out this day care/nursing home.

Certainly the poor communication between generational gaps is a problem: the present backlash vs BOOMERS, the ENTITLED MILLENNIAL LIBERAL, vs the VAPING MEMEBRAIN ZOOMER, vs. etc. Seems like a failure in communication leading to a broad "othering" as age groups remain disparate.

Old people used to have value, but post war era left them a bounty and no impitus to become "The Best".
We ain't got no sages and wise men from them anymore, they're the babies.

Interesting thought. After seeing some fiction from the 20s, valorizing youth, I think the value of older people ebbs and flows like so many other things.
