Probably, especially if it's low wages for everyone. It increases equality. They believe part of the reason people want more stuff is that their neighbors have more stuff. Low wages across the board would fix that.
-
Wage tampering doesn't help anyone but the tamperer. It's why anti-trust laws exist, and the reason unionization is a workers strongest tool against corporate collusion and crony capitalism. Equality of outcome is shareholder equity, minus the liability and not equality.

I'd say "yes", "no" and "you've had better luck at provocation that isn't just a serious-sounding rephrase of mocking an outsider position before, this one is just trying to concentrate water by boiling it down - boring"

(really it's a complex multifactorial thing which on this level makes "it depends" the only answer that even pretends to take the question serious enough for thinking about it before answering :P ) And I'm still texty. Retreating to annoy people elsewhere ;)

You're engaging with a variety of philosophies. Anti-consumerism can be monastic, or it can be minimalist, or environmentalist, etc. Each has a different ethical/rational basis for their decisions.

Low wages workers are more engaged with
#consumerism. Where consumerism means "protection or promotion of the interests of consumers"Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Unfortunately, low wages actually increase global consumerism, while lowering global consumption aka instantaneous wealth. Global low wages are a lose lose game.

Low wages don't stop consumerism, but increase debt and shift of priorities (instead of saving for emergencies or retirement, people spend in non essentials). Lots of people with a high income are not consumists either, they invest instead of spend. It's a life-philosophy thing
