The side calling for a while ethnostate is a tad more extreme

Sure, but who cares what like 10 people think? Leftwing extremism is everywhere and more subtle, therefore more dangerous.

This is pretty much my view as well. I find myself more concerned about what the SJWs can do, but part of that is that they're more in my field of vision—I hardly see the alt-right, and I see a lot more SJW smearing of people as alt-right who clearly aren't, which skews things.

You have to define your terms. Antifa on the left is quite extreme but SJW is a vague term and may not even include them. Feminists are hardly likely to use violence against persons. Aren't they SJW? Alt-right might use violence but usually seems to be crazies who actually do.

Perhaps Alt-right seems more extreme because their rhetoric suggests to others that violence is necessary and crazies take them seriously. I don't see the connection between SJW (leftie) rhetoric and antifa violence. Do you?

Within the connotation of "alt-right", ideas of extremism are much more prevent. In comparison, "SJW" just brings ideas of extreme social ideology. A fairer comparison of connotation intensity to "alt-right" on the side of the left would be Antifa.
