Adolescent rebellion is WEIRD, not a cross-cultural universal: rebellion less likely when social groups are multi-generational & where children have relatively high autonomy
I was homeschooled, and in homeschool culture, "teenagers" were sort of treated as a myth, "teenage rebellion" as something that just didn't happen. The expectation was that teenagers have no rebellious period at all, and to a big extent this was true.
All the home schooled teens I know are absolutely amazing young people, who treat their peers, parents and younger kids with amazing kindness and respect.
