Several things I deem bigger responsibilities are legal at 18 (or even 16), so yes. It's cliche but if you're old enough to vote, join the military or drive why not to buy beer?

The military things is really the least of the things in the US. And 25 year olds are harder to indoctrinate and turn into cannon fodder. The military likes it's kids.

Yes, because an 18 year old can sign a contract, vote, die for their country in the military, get married, give blood, become a camgirl star Ina porn film, go to jail for life or even get the death penalty, and many more things, but not have an effing drink.

Its because of the way we tend to drink here. We dont view drinking as something like having a beer with dinner. We binge that shit and make stupid decisions. Like all those years ago when those 18 year old high school seniors got drunk at lunch and ran over that 3rd grader. Pass

I guess people dont realize that military personnel under 21 can buy alcohol on base

Common misconception. In the US, under the UCMJ military personnel follow the US' laws. In foreign countries where the drinking age is 18, however, the base commander has the option to lower the age to 18 but isn't required to or anything.
