Isn't this what people are referring to with "privilege"? As in, I'm privileged to live in an area of the country with little racism, but I need to check my privilege and acknowledge that other areas my have much more racism.

Isn't privilege associated with power? I don't necessarily associate 'having power' with 'I live in a non-racist area.'

I think in many cases it is, but couldn't privilege also be nothing more than enjoying a comfortable lifestyle (in this case the lack of social division) while complaining about those who don't?

I guess so, though I notice I want to point out the reverse of this thing is also equally as bad to me - if you live in a place with a lot of racism, assuming that people in places without racism are just *really really racist* is also poopy in the same way.
