Replying to @CHSommers
Also sounds like the Total Depravity doctrine: "Sin has affected all parts of man. The heart, emotions, will, mind, and body are all affected by sin. We are completely sinful. We are not as sinful as we could be, but we are completely affected by sin."

Kinda but also kinda not? I'm pointing out how they are similar - both radical progressive ideology and calvinism teaches that your basic nature is that of 'failure to meet the standard for holiness', which leads nicely into providing a 'solution' for your failures.

Romans 9:22 kinda implies this? Also God has been known to harden hearts so that people won't obey him (Exodus 7:3, Romans 9:15-18, Deut. 2:30,)Joshua 11:20, intentionally deludes people into lies (2 Thess. 2:11).,

There's lots of verses that support the idea that man is too sinful to choose God, that God predestines people for heaven according to his will, and that God's pretty fine with doing bad shit to the wicked. I can totallysee how people can pull Calvinist doctrine out of scripture.
