The first category seems less threatening to me - there's not a lot of tangible action to take about aliens, but there's a lot of tangible stuff you can do for the second category. Does this mean that female-style irrationality causes more damage?

Depends on how you define irrationality. I'd include "if I keep asking her out I can wear her down and one day she will love me" as pretty irrational, and that's not large scale (but is all too common).

Where irrationality shows up is caused as much by gender roles in society as anything. Women have roles that make them concentrate on one set of subjects, men on another. Those crossing roles also have stereotyped upbringing and the role baggage from that.

Interesting It seems to match the gender difference in polictics Men tent to care about larger scale systems such as the state level politics, geo-politics ect Where as women tennd to focus on more proximal things such as local government

Within yoga/vegan/hippie circles, it is not more common for women than men to believe in spiritual/new age stuff. It seems like most people do. These are the people I've been surrounded with my whole life.
