Scores on IQ test are highly correlated to a lot of other things, and as such IQ serves as a pretty good (though obvs not perfect) measure.

What does it measure though? Really think about it - there is absolutely no way a concept like intelligence can be quantified.
IQ is, provably, a historical tool of "scientific racists" and eugenicists.
The only thing it can accurately measure is how well you take that test.

I don't feel like fully explaining why IQ is bullshit, but I strongly recommend looking into it. It was one of many illusions I had growing up that seem to cascade more and more the older I get
