One of the strongest pieces of evidence that our culture sucks at thinking or empathy is the abortion debate. Pro-choicers constantly characterize pro-lifers as "not actually caring about babies, but just want to control the bodies of women" which is one of the stupidest things

Lemme preface my big “if” that I live in the country of Polandia, where pro-lifers are numerous and I live alongside them. I can’t afford them all the good faith of *sincerely believing they’re protecting anyone*, because they’re showing plenty of genuine malice and disregard.

*If* I earnestly believed child murder is what I’m seeing, if I were really *me* in all other respects, I’d go asking WHY. That’s a lot of reduction to cope with, since I already know the purpose of it. Putting oneself in such tunnel-vision only tells me tunnel-vision is limiting

I'd like to play this out. I'll roleplay and ask you questions about this world, if you'll play along. So when you say "you", do you mean me as if transported as I currently am, middle-aged, typing on my phone here in bed? What are the given reasons for killing healthy babies?

As a father, harm to children is especially emotional for me. But as a human, culturally sanctioned mass actions are difficult to empathize with, so I personally resort to wanting to go meta on the culture and see what tweaks, if any, would lead to more optimal outcomes.
