I wonder if, ironically, the opioid crisis will pave the way for psychedelic research. So many people know someone suffering from opioid addiction; providing a possible treatment might sway public sentiment.

I think that failures of antidepressants and antianxiety drugs are also pushing alternatives like MDMA, ketamine and Ayahuasca.

Kind of already happening with that ketamine nasal spray being FDA approved. Though, that is for depression not opioid addiction... first step
