When you were growing up, did your family experience food scarcity (where you ate less or didn't eat because you couldn't afford enough food, or when your access to food was uncertain, or you had to supplement with food donations/dumpster diving)?

My childhood gave me weird food issues. Not because we couldn’t afford food but because my parents were always trying fad diets & it would affect the pantry for everyone.. now I’m weird about sharing food, saving portions of food for later 😭 my bf says I’m like a camel with food

As a child I wasn't fully aware of the financial hardships we faced when my parents got cancer; there were periods where making ends meet only happened because of community/ friends/ etc; I never went hungry and our home didn't foreclose which would have happened sans assistance.
