Extremely disappointed with @united, gonna do my best to never fly with them again. I arrived at the airport to find out they'd cancelled my ticket without notifying me. I had to buy a new, much more expensive ticket at the desk.

I've said it before but the airline industry is ripe for a mutiny; the companies in the space are NOT aligned with the standard of customer service the public demands in 2010+

that’s really terrible. pretty sure a lot of airlines have this policy, though.

That sucks. This is not a united thing, though. Every airline will cancel the rest of your itinerary if you don't start it at the beginning

The airlines all do this, it is to avoid fair arbitrage by frequent buyers who might get individual legs cheaper and get refunds on the legs they don't fly. Round trips are cheaper than singles, you might be able to get different prices b to a than a to b.

People like you and me might never do this but it would happen if you could get refunds on tickets you don't use. The fact that they didn't inform you after the first leg was missed is really the problem, they had all the contact info

Wait... You thought United actually was supposed to care about their customers?
