Reddit banned /r/watchpeopledie. I am sad. That sub functioned like a cold dose of reality and a reminder to be grateful for the fact that we're healthy and breathing. Banning it feels like a small censorship of my reality into something slightly nicer and slightly falser.

I’ve noticed people who are suicidal will often watch violent videos and feel a sense of catharsis.
I know in the most difficult times in my life, watching MMA and browsing through /r/watchpeopledie gave me a sense of catharsis.

What truly is unsettling is the lack of clarity with reddit’s own ToS and community guidelines. They just act when they want. And cherry pick their actions. It’s pretty much unstable and unsafe when the administration themselves aren’t being consistent.

People should have the freedom to see videos of people dying.
There is no constructive point in denying reality.
If a nanny state policing morality is unacceptable in physical would, there is no reason why that should be acceptable in the cyber world.
