depends on the time frame imo: eventually there will be a point where there simply isn't work available for the vast majority of humans, bc computers are more efficient in almost every way - at that point UBI is necessary, right?

Good, and realistic, and still less likely to help with in-practice affordability of supply-constrained goods like housing, healthcare, and education than many of its proponents seem to hope.

Trials from Finland didn't appear to yield positive data on UBI. National insurance and adult retraining schemes still seem like the best course for the time being. Until energy & ecology are solved, meddling with wellfare should be low priority.

I think people are confused about what whether if "realistic" means if UBI can be implimented or if it means UBI will be sustainable and work after being implemented.
