I think people are imagining "kill off the billionaires" and not "kill off nearly all inhabitants of first world countries and 90% of people with graduate degrees" when they select "richest".

Tough call. The richest include people who did wonderful things to get their wealth, plus others who did not. I wouldn't want to deprive humanity of the people who work wonders, even at the price of having to keep the idle rich... or punishing the poor shlubs.
