IQ tests have to be "recalibrated" all the time because the average person today would get >100 IQ on a test from 10 years ago (and 100 was the average back then). it is an upwards trend but it is also limited to a certain set of skills

The Flynn effect: a rapid increase in IQ through most of the 20th century. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flynn_effect … IQ tests are periodically renormed because of it.
-
The effect is extremely large - eg a 14 point gain over 66 years in Britain.
